A short car journey, 10 minutes from Velvet Lodge and Water’s Edge Lodge and 20 minutes from Larchwood Lodge, is the town of Cirencester (formerly named Corinium, it was the second largest town in Britain during Roman times) which is home to the Corinium Museum, the Cirencester Abbey (the longest known Saxon church in England) together with a wide range of independent shops, supermarkets (Tesco, M&S, Waitrose) restaurants and is host to regular market days.
