“A huge thank you for providing such an idyllic, beautiful, truly beyond 5 star retreat which accommodated our every possible need. The lodge was exceptionally spacious and absolutely stunning! Your attention to detail is impressive, made the visit very special and all of the luxury, stylish rooms with designer furniture were a real treat! Not surprised House and Garden Magazine has featured this Unique Home. Jacuzzi bath in the master bathroom, cinema room, high tech spec, fantastically equipped kitchen, private and exceptionally large all day sun verandah, use of bicycles and kayak, unobstructed views from every room make this an ideal getaway for every occasion. The setting is fantastic. The lake was serene, and our stay was totally reviving. We didn’t want to leave! We look forward to coming back here again and again.”

22 May 2009 - 7 Nights (Velvet Lodge)

Our 8 person group of young 40 year olds attended the Velvet Lodge in June of this year for a week booking, we were looking for a short break for our combined 40th birthday party. From the information on the internet, it appeared to be displayed well with a good amount of information to hand, we were happy with this so we placed our reservation on the Lodge and looked forward to a short and needed break.

We were given clear and concise directions from the motorway and these were more than adequate for the local roads.

Upon our arrival we were delighted with the lodge, as the clear and detailed pictures from the internet couldn’t capture the excellence of the openness of the reception, kitchen, bedrooms and balcony.

The attention to detail and cleanliness throughout the house coupled with the highly decorative furnishings simply added to the finesse and tranquillity of the Lodge and the amazing views from the balcony, which impressed us further when the evening settled in, we were able to sit back looking through the glass wall and view the night sky and totally unwind.

We were met by the very friendly owners who proceeded to explain everything clearly and in an uncomplicated manner, this included the local facilities within and outside of the complex. We were also given lists of local events for the region for its seasonal calendar, which we felt was very proactive for non local visitors. The facilities from the Spa were used daily and are missed.

The house was impeccable, clean and everything was easy to find, especially in the kitchen as everything was very organised and tidy. The upper balcony was perfect for the evenings when we had great weather and sitting out there with friends with wine to hand was most excellent. During the mornings we used the lower veranda and enjoyed the serenity of the lake, the wildlife passing by and the total lack of traffic and busy noise from ourcity.

Everyone within our group had completely relaxed and agreed that this was most definitely and by far the best UK break any one of us had been on.

We highly recommend the Velvet Lodge and give it a 11 out of 10 for all of its aspects.

We intend on returning to the lodge and have told our friends about this, we didn’t want the week to stop and are missing this place the day after we reluctantly left!!

what an amazing property , we could not of asked for more , this is totally stunning , the property is beautiful , it was spotless very well maintained sooo clean stunning linen, beautiful towels and plenty of them , lovely little extras around the house , the facilites were amazing we all loved the pools , the owners are lovely lovely people and make you feel at home the minute you walk through the door , we could not recommend this property enough , we felt like kings queens, princes and princesses it was just wonderful am so glad we found this site and 2 wonderful hosts , thank you so much for an amazing weekend , lovely place to be with all our family we will definatly be booking again xx all our love

We had a beautiful, relaxing long weekend…

Your house is fantastic. We really appreciated the fab Christmas tree.

It was warm and cosy and the magnificent views at night brought tears to our eyes.

During the day, we sat in front of the windows overlooking the Lake and watched the birds, the starlings in their hundreds flying in perfect formation, what an unforgettable sight!!!

We will be back very soon and will be recommending you to our friends.

Had a great time, fabulous setting, and lovely house.

We especially liked the “Special touches”; welcome hamper, lots of cutlery, pots, pans, books, magazines, tea coffee, and toiletries. The owners were welcoming and took care of all our needs.

Sky Sport was a real plus and kept the boys quiet!

It was a treat to be able to walk out of the front door, and be at the Spa in less then 3 minutes walk.

Spa was clean and more impressive then some of the London Spa’s.

Thank you, we will be back next time we are in the UK!!

Wow! A beautiful sunrise every morning!

We had a lovely time. Every need was provided for.

The setting is glorious and the Spa was a welcome treat.

Excellent choice of treatments!

House was immaculate and owners did all they could to make our stay stress free and enjoyable.

Kids were occupied playing games provided and the Disney Channel was a real hit as well as internet access, which was fast and more reliable then at home!!!

Perfect retreat.
